-Joshua is so amazing!!!-

Hi all, book of Joshua is just so amazing. I'm in awe of his convictions and fear for the word of the lord just by reading the bible. He absolutely fear the lord with all his heart.

===================================================================

Joshua1
5 No one will be able to stand up against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you.
6 "Be strong and courageous, because you will lead these people to inherit the land I swore to their forefathers to give them.
7 Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go. 8 Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.
9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go."

Joshua 3
7 And the LORD said to Joshua, "Today I will begin to exalt you in the eyes of all Israel, so they may know that I am with you as I was with Moses. 8 Tell the priests who carry the ark of the covenant: 'When you reach the edge of the Jordan's waters, go and stand in the river.' "
13 And as soon as the priests who carry the ark of the LORD -the Lord of all the earth—set foot in the Jordan, its waters flowing downstream will be cut off and stand up in a heap."
14 So when the people broke camp to cross the Jordan, the priests carrying the ark of the covenant went ahead of them. 15 Now the Jordan is at flood stage all during harvest. Yet as soon as the priests who carried the ark reached the Jordan and their feet touched the water's edge, 16 the water from upstream stopped flowing. It piled up in a heap a great distance away, at a town called Adam in the vicinity of Zarethan, while the water flowing down to the Sea of the Arabah (the Salt Sea [b] ) was completely cut off. So the people crossed over opposite Jericho. 17 The priests who carried the ark of the covenant of the LORD stood firm on dry ground in the middle of the Jordan, while all Israel passed by until the whole nation had completed the crossing on dry ground.

Joshua4:
And Joshua set up at Gilgal the twelve stones they had taken out of the Jordan. 21 He said to the Israelites, "In the future when your descendants ask their fathers, 'What do these stones mean?' 22 tell them, 'Israel crossed the Jordan on dry ground.' 23 For the LORD your God dried up the Jordan before you until you had crossed over. The LORD your God did to the Jordan just what he had done to the Red Sea [b] when he dried it up before us until we had crossed over. 24 He did this so that all the peoples of the earth might know that the hand of the LORD is powerful and so that you might always fear the LORD your God."

Joshua 5
14 "Neither," he replied, "but as commander of the army of the LORD I have now come." Then Joshua fell facedown to the ground in reverence, and asked him, "What message does my Lord [d] have for his servant?"
15 The commander of the LORD's army replied, "Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy." And Joshua did so.

Joshua 7
6 Then Joshua tore his clothes and fell facedown to the ground before the ark of the LORD, remaining there till evening.

Joshua 8
30 Then Joshua built on Mount Ebal an altar to the LORD, the God of Israel, 31 as Moses the servant of the LORD had commanded the Israelites. He built it according to what is written in the Book of the Law of Moses—an altar of uncut stones, on which no iron tool had been used. On it they offered to the LORD burnt offerings and sacrificed fellowship offerings. [b] 32 There, in the presence of the Israelites, Joshua copied on stones the law of Moses, which he had written. 33 All Israel, aliens and citizens alike, with their elders, officials and judges, were standing on both sides of the ark of the covenant of the LORD, facing those who carried it—the priests, who were Levites. Half of the people stood in front of Mount Gerizim and half of them in front of Mount Ebal, as Moses the servant of the LORD had formerly commanded when he gave instructions to bless the people of Israel.
34 Afterward, Joshua read all the words of the law—the blessings and the curses—just as it is written in the Book of the Law. 35 There was not a word of all that Moses had commanded that Joshua did not read to the whole assembly of Israel, including the women and children, and the aliens who lived among them.

===================================================================

Hi, read this like last month, wanted to share last time but don't know how to put it in words. I think Joshua is a man of action! He's like the 'Tom Cruise' of the book Joshua, he's always in the thick of the action, Joshua commanded, Joshua lead, Joshua ask, Joshua lift his stuff, Joshua built, Joshua lifted and more Joshua. :) I think he's super talented miltary man. Think of all the great warriors we saw in the movies, gladiator's Maximus, braveheart's William Walace. He leads so many fighting man across a foreign land with so much pressure after the last generation fall, they have no land to fall back on if they fail, back to the desert? The only way is to succeed! but we never see any of that pressure on him, never of that stress we so often complain about, never of the arrogence and pride that comes from success, never of that complaceny victories after victories.

He's always strong and couragous, listening to god's "never going to the left or right", always in the thick of action of god's will and purpose for him, always fighting, always warring!

How he do it?

He's so grateful to god. First thing after this great, baptism success, he didn't celebrate, didn't start a feast. He set up stones to be grateful for god. I thought why stones? ARGH... because later we read he wrote down EVERY word of god's law. Every single word he wrote them down (tried to write on rock) and then after that, read everything! I think his love for god's word give him strength for everything he do, that help him to fear god. :)

What's our stuggles in life? Let's be like Joshua. He leads an army and had a million things to do everything, surely he's more tired than us. But god's words is always on his mind, with it, everything he do came success. He even manage to get the sun to stop! wah! :) You can make the sun stop too!
